2017 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe Revealed with Classier Design

The all-new, 2017 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe has finally revealed, and it looks like a baby S-Class Coupe as expected. Mercedes’ design chief Gorden Wagener believes it’s prettier than the S-Class Coupe, but we’ll let you be the judge.

The C-Class Coupe is the two-door version of the C-Class sedan and, as a result, shares it’s general design from the A-pillar forwards, while the rear half is strongly inspired by that of the classy S-Class Coupe. Compared to the previous C-Class Coupe, it measures 95 mm (3.7 inches) longer and 40 mm (1.6 inches) wider, while the wheelbase has grown by 80 mm (3.1 inches).

Its clean and crisp body lines, smooth surfaces and elegant silhouette justify the baby S-Class Coupe reference.

Inside, the 2017 C-Class Coupe is virtually identical to the sedan, meaning it’s clean, classy, very luxurious and loaded with all the tech you would expect from a compact German sports coupe.

In Europe, the entry-level C180 model is powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 156PS (154 hp), while C200 makes use of a 2.0-liter four-cylinder unit with 184PS (181hp). Buyers looking for more power have the option of the 2.0-liter four-cylinder unit tuned to produce 211PS (208hp) in the C 250 and 245PS (242hp) in the C 300.

There are two four-cylinder diesel engines that can be had, one rated at 170PS (168hp) and the other at 204PS (201hp). Both benefit from ecofriendly SCR technology (Selective Catalytic Reduction) for exhaust gas after treatment.

Finally, there will be at least two performance-tuned, range-topping AMG models for hardcore sports car enthusiasts.

For the first-time ever, the C-Class Coupe is available with Mercedes-Benz’s AIRMATIC air suspension, which offers the best balance between ride quality, comfort and handling performance, thanks in large part to the system’s adaptive nature. It gives drivers the choice of four driving modes: ECO, Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Individual.

The German coupe comes equipped with many safety & assistance systems, such as active lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, brake assist, active parking assist and a 360-degree camera. The air conditioning system works with the sat-nav system and has the nifty ability to close the air recirculation flap automatically whenever entering a tunnel and then reopen it after exiting.

The 2017 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe will spawn a C-Class convertible. Take a look at it in its full glory below and let us know if you think it’s better-looking than the S-Class Coupe.
